Sciatica

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the human body that is made up of individual nerve roots that begin from the spine in the lower back and branches out down the buttock and down the back of each leg. Portions of this nerve are attached to certain parts of the leg such as the thigh, calf, foot, and toes. When the sciatic nerve experiences trauma, the pain can range from mild to severe. When this happens, Dr. Darlene Holland, D.C. of Central Virginia Chiropractic Center, Inc. can develop a structured treatment plan.

When sciatic nerve pain doesn’t get better on its own, you will need to explore your treatment options to find pain relief and minimize future dysfunction. Usually, sciatica affects only one side of the lower body, but the pain may radiate from the lower back and down the leg. If you have pain in this area that is constant, as well as weakness or numbness when moving the leg or the foot, schedule a consultation with Dr. Darlene Holland, D.C., to discuss your pain management options.
